Thank you Tesfa for treating us to such an unforgettable and incredible trip. We travelled as two families with six kids between us, aged from 7 up to 13. After a great day seeing historical sites in Axum, we went on to spend three wonderful days trekking in the stunning Agame mountains and visiting rock churches, and a day visiting Abuna Yemata church in the Gheralta mountains. The scenery, different terrain, incredible hospitality and fresh food all contributed to this beautiful trip. From initial contact with Tesfa all the way through to the trip itself we felt in very safe hands, and well looked after every step of the way. We are confident that we will make use of Tesfa again in the future.

We had an amazing week in Ethiopia and really enjoyed our time in Addis and in Tigray! Highlights of Addis include wandering around the huge Merkato market and stopping for Coffee nearby. We also had an awesome 4 days community trekking from guest house to guest house. The views were amazing, and so was the hospitality of our hosts and those we met as we passed through the villages. The guesthouses were cosy, beautifully rustic and served fantastic food and coffee! We ended this epic holiday with a day biking in the mountains behind Addis with Mark… I can’t recommend Ethiopia and Tesfa tours enough!! Special thanks must go to Berhe who was our guide in Tigray- for his insights into local life and the many other interesting conversations we shared. To Fitsum and Abele for their excellent tour of Addis and their great company. To Getachew who looked after us on the roads and especially to Mark for organising everything! Thank you all so much !

Mark and Betty put together a customized itinerary for us that included a four-day community trek through Tigray, with additional stops in Axum, Gheralta, Gondar, and Lalibela. Throughout the trip, they were always responsive and flexible, making minor adjustments to lodging and even flights and taking great care to ensure our safety and security. At every leg of the journey, the Ethiopian guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and professional—though Berhe, our guide during the village trek through Tigray, was especially talented and contributed a great deal to making this an unforgettable trip. The terrain of the challenging Tigray walk was varied but always scenic and at times breathtakingly beautiful (photographs do not do justice to the mountaintop views). The stone-built guest houses were magnificently situated and clean, quiet, and private. The side-climbs to the rock-hewn churches were exquisite experiences that will stay with us for quite some time. But what most impressed us were the unplanned, always-friendly encounters with the people of the communities along the way, including farmers, schoolchildren, priests, and the patrons of a local tela (beer) tavern. All in all, we had a fantastic trip with Tesfa Tours which exceeded our expectations in every way and one that we will highly recommend to anyone seeking to get off the beaten path in Ethiopia

Recommended 100% we did a quick stop in Addis for 1 night, we took a full day tour and it was the best choice we could have made. Very well organised ! Fitsum and Abel were great guides !

We spent three days exploring sights in and around Addis with Tesfa and our guide Fitsum, which was great. Our group was aged from 4 to 75, and he had a great manner with everyone in the group – interesting, knowledgeable, and very quick to adapt to what we would most enjoy at that time. We especially loved Shola market, the very peaceful Zoma Museum, and the park at Entoto. Betty and the office were also fantastic, and very efficient and responsive. Thanks to Tesfa and the team!

The organisation by Tesfa Tours was just splendid! From the cultural visits to the treks in nature! Mark is superfriendly and listened very well to all our wishes. Even when we wanted to change something last minute in our program, he was so flexible and made everything possible. The Community Treks he offers is a unique way to see the authentic rural life of the Ethiopian people. Also you get to see stunning views at accommodations off the beaten track.
